Unattended Death/ Hoarding Clean Up
This particular situation was one of the more interesting scenes that we have walked into. The occupant had passed away and we were brought in to clean out the house so it could be sold for estate purposes. The occupant had apparently lived that last years of her life in the house and had decided that personally removing her own trash was not going to be possible. In this 5 room house, she began systematicly filling up her house with her own refuse including food containers, soiled adult diapers, general refuse, spoiled food, dirty clothes, unopened mail, newspapers, and anything else that would typically go into a trash can. Needless to say, the neighbors were complaining, the authorities had been involved prior to us being on scene and we had been asked to come out and clean this area and make the house presentable for sale. Here is what we were dealing with:
Here is the kitchen. Yes, that is all food, food containers, shopping bags, soda bottles, general refuse and trash.
You will see a picture down the page of what the sink looked like under all that rotting trash.
Through our use of antimicrobial solutions and elbow grease, the cabinets today look almost new and smell like nothing ever happened there.
You will see an employee on the left in full Personal Protection gear. The smell was unavoidable even under the masks and full suits.

Here we have the living room. This was more of a bagged garbage area. Lots of plastic, sludge, empty pet food containers, etc.
The couch obviously has to go. The sludge seeping through the garbage had begun to materially break down the structure of the furniture. The family of mice living under the couch didn't appreciate us moving them unceremoniously out to the dumpster with the rest of the refuse.

Here we have the area in front of the Laundry room.
Its obvious that the occupant hadn't done laundry in quite some time which begs the question what the occupant did to clean their clothes...

The main bathroom. Empty cans of dog food, soiled adult diapers, soda and water jugs... A real assortment of biohazzard, chemical and material issues. Duraclean had surprises hidden in this mess, which you can see in the next picture.
Most of this area will be able to be cleaned and not removed . We will be doing full inspections after cleaning the area to verify it is clear of feces, sludge, unwelcome pets and has had full decontamination.
Yes, the home owner lived in this house for years before we came in.

Here is the inside of the toilet after we removed the contents.
A few things of note:
Note the clean spots on the rim of the toilet from the bumpers of the raised toilet ring.
At one point the sewer backed up through the tub and came out through the safety drain below the faucet in the tub.
The water in the toilet had been trickling for an undetermined amount of time. Notice the handle is broken and the waves in the toilet.

Upon removing all the garbage, moldy food, food containers and refuse, this surprise awaited us in the sink. With the sink clogged with food, mold and rot, all fluids rested in the bin, rotting away everything but the plastic. The sludge in the sink then is a conglomerate of all the fluids and dissolved material.
There is a dead white mouse on the left edge of the picture. Don't worry though, there were so many mice, rats and other creatures running through the house, we are sure many were his/her offspring.
